Wanganui's Sister Cities
Wanganui Sister Cities
Wanganui has two sister cities; Nagaizumi-cho, Japan and Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia.

Wanganui's sister city relationship with Nagaizumi-cho began in 1988 and has seen many official and student delegations visit each city. In 1983 Wanganui began its relationship with Toowoomba and recently this relationship has gone through a revitalisation with mutual visits to both cities.

Nagaizumi-cho
Shizuoka, Japan
Nagaizumi is located south of Mount Fuji, and north of Suruga Bay. Sandwiched between Mishima and Numazu, it serves as a bedroom community for both cities.

It is also host to numerous industries, including paper mills, and chemical plants. Agricultural products of Nagaizumi include persimmons, Dioscorea opposita (a type of potato) and white Welsh Onions.

The town is served by two stations on the Gotemba Line - Nagaizumi-Nameri Station and Shimo-Togari Station. Although the Tōmei Expressway and the Tōkaidō Shinkansen both pass through Nagaizumi, the town is not served by either an interchange or station.

Toowoomba
Queensland, Australia
Toowoomba (nicknamed 'The Garden City') is a city in South East Queensland, Australia. It is located 132 km (82 mi) west of Queensland's capital city, Brisbane. With an urban population of 95,265, Toowoomba is one of Australia's largest provincial cities.

A university and cathedral city, Toowoomba hosts the Australian Carnival of Flowers each September, and Easterfest is held annually over the Easter weekend.

From the March 2008, quadrennial local government elections, Toowoomba has been amalgamated with surrounding rural shires and towns to form Toowoomba Regional Council.
